We’re dedicated to providing accessible, inclusive, and empowering equine-assisted programs for people of all abilities. Each program is carefully designed to meet the unique needs and goals of our participants, promoting physical health, emotional well-being, and a sense of achievement. With the help of our specially trained horses and compassionate volunteers, RDAV’s programs create opportunities for personal growth and joyful connections.
Exercise and active recreational riding activities in a challenging, fun, and supportive environment.
Regular riding improves core strength, balance and coordination and our welcoming groups help boost well–being and happiness.
All the benefits of riding for anyone unable to ride a horse or who want to extend their skills.
Led by accredited coaches using specialized vehicles and adapted harnesses.
This involves activities carried out on the ground, interacting with the horse, horse care, handling and groundwork and also motor skills and cognitive exercises some of which are similar to our Therapeutic Riding Programme.
All riders, at all levels of ability, are encouraged to participate in different events. Volunteers and coaches celebrate riders’ progress, share techniques, and enjoy a rich community experience.
Jordan was born with a chromosome deletion. The effect of this means Jordan has severe epilepsy, is non-verbal, isn’t toilet trained, has autistic tendencies, and isn’t very fluid in movement. But there is one thing that makes her at peace with the world, and that has been her weekly RDA sessions since she was six years old (she’s now 18).
Each RDAV program is designed to create a positive impact that goes beyond the physical. Our participants experience a wide range of benefits:
Our horses have a unique ability to connect with people, creating a safe space for growth, expression, and joy. This combination of movement, companionship, and trust makes equine-assisted activities uniquely powerful for participants of all ages and abilities.
RDAV welcomes participants aged 3 to 65, with a wide range of abilities and goals. Our programs serve individuals with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, including those with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, and degenerative conditions. Each program is adapted to meet the participant’s individual needs and ensure they have a safe, rewarding, and enjoyable experience.
We are committed to child safety, happiness and empowerment through promoting and maintaining a culture without tolerance for abuse, neglect or exploitation. Visit the DH website to report an incident. We comply with the key requirements of the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
